OVERVIEW
A hundred years is a long time. In the car industry, it’s the difference between the humble Model T and the remarkable advances delivered in the Ford GT. First offered at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show, the GT40 concept car showed the world that the Ford 100-year anniversary was going to be far more than a celebration of their past. And while the first-generation Ford GT was visually compelling and technologically sophisticated, the second-generation has exceeded even the most jaded performance minded enthusiast’s expectations of what a modern supercar can be.
As Ford concluded first-generation Ford GT production in 2006, work secretly began on the new iteration which arrived in 2016. No longer carrying retrofuturism design themes echoing the past, Ford designed the new GT as a powerful combination of advanced design and technology featuring a race-bred aerodynamically advanced body, butterfly doors, and extreme mechanical packaging housing a mind-boggling array of sophisticated features. The sloping windshield, mid-engine layout, and beautifully proportioned air management features delivered amazing visual results while integrating engine and brake cooling and high-speed aerodynamic stability controls.
The second-generation GT incorporated a low-drag teardrop cockpit fusing the central mass with flying buttresses hovering over the mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The resultant design became nothing short of a Le Mans racer for the streets. The stunning body is comprised of carbon fiber monocoque bolted to aluminum front and rear subframes making for a lightweight yet compliant chassis meeting all requirements for a safe and drivable modern road car. In addition to the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged 647 hp V6 engine, the 7-speed transmission and hydraulically adjustable suspension dynamically adjust with three selectable ride modes. A front-axle lift system is also powered via onboard command to raise and lower the front approach angle minimizing scraping to the front aerodynamic air dam.
Dramatic from any view, the rear of the car is perhaps the most engaging. The open-air wind tunnels flanking the mid-engine are towered over by flying buttresses creating maximum downforce and improved stability at high speeds. Massive high-exit centrally clustered dual exhausts and hollow perimeter taillights also allow for maximum airflow at high speeds. Rear diffuser, chassis pan air management, and an active adjustable rear spoiler further confirm that literally every body feature has an integrated performance purpose. Potent and highly capable, the Ford GT delivered insane levels of performance including eye-watering 0-60 3.0 second times, the quarter mile lapsing in 10.8 seconds at 134 mph, and a top speed over 216 mph.
Additional features of the Ford GT include fixed carbon fiber Sparco seats with Alcantara wrapped bolsters, F1-inspired Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, anodized black alloy shift paddles, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and 20” forged alloy wheels. Production ran from 2016-2022 with just 50 2019 examples built at the factory featuring the iconic Gulf Oil livery in honor of the 1968 Le Mans victory. Rare by any measure, astute collectors have continued to pursue Heritage Livery examples featuring excellent provenance and documented low mileage.
This exceptional 2019 Ford GT was delivered to the first and only owner who has retained the car with just 46 delivery miles indicated on the odometer. Documented by the Ford factory window sticker, this GT was optioned with $181,800 additional cost options including heritage roundel graphics with orange and blue paint, leather and Alcantara interior, 6-point harness anchors, and titanium exhaust. A remarkable preservation grade Heritage Livery example, this car retains the original paint, original leather interior, original engine and gearbox, retains all the factory applied tags, door sill protection, and still rides on the original tires. The car has further been wrapped in clear paint protection film (PPF) from nose to tail.
Presenting essentially as new with beautiful factory original finishes and stunning 20” factory wheels, the glass, lenses, and exterior body trim are all in excellent cosmetic condition. There are no chips or scratches in the expansive wrap around specially developed lightweight “Gorilla Glass” windshield which was developed using similar digital screen glass technology. The heritage stripes, graphic details, panel gaps, and inner strike surfaces remain exemplary in every respect.
Stepping up to the driver’s door, the butterfly doors swing upward, allowing easy access over the wide sills into the Sparco carbon fiber seats. The interior features delightful details and finishes including smooth and supple leather trimmed seats, race-inspired dashboard with digital technology, carbon fiber components, and orange/blue stitching accents. Viewable through the rear glass, the visually arresting engine has been preserved with modest run time solely to maintain operational excellence. Lifting the hinged front section reveals a clean and meticulously maintained storage area showing factory fresh finishes and details. The undercarriage shows all the correct factory fastened aerodynamic chassis panels and air venturi channels specifically designed for the GT.
The car starts instantly offering a wicked and sharp level of combustion revered among motorsports performance enthusiasts. Seating position is firm and commanding with remarkable forward visibility, a consideration indicating that nearly all potential traffic will be behind you. Acceleration is remarkable even in moderate application and yet manageable via progressive power steering and adjustable suspension. Cornering and braking are simply astonishing though this particular car has not been put through the rigors of more spirited driving – a delight that has been sequestered for the next fortunate owner.
This rare and amazing Ford GT is available with its original window sticker, factory literature, owner’s manual with factory leatherette pouch, two keys fobs, car cover, transmission park override tool, and the factory lithium ion battery tender.
One of the most sought-after premium supercars, this Ford GT Heritage Edition offers top performance and exclusivity sure to be invited to any premier automotive venue. This one of 50 Heritage Livery Ford GT delivers exceptional performance and provenance with the added benefit of documented originality, concours level finishes, and low-mile singular ownership.
