Experience out-of-this-world luxury with the Pagani Utopia Roadster

Just when you thought the artistic mastery of Pagani Automobili could do no more with their outrageous supercars, they seem to dig deep and find another layer of sheer luxury. Welcome the all-new Utopia Roadster!

“The Pagani V12, devoid of any hybrid support, is a tribute to the enduring beauty of mechanical purity.” That's one of the first lines of Pagani’s latest press release, written to showcase their latest offering to the ultra-rich around the world. It’s a statement that carries a lot of weight when so many car makers have succumbed to the powers of hybrid technology. Pagani have been creating hypercars seemingly from another world for decades now, and perhaps their latest model gives us an idea of where they spring from: a Utopia, perhaps?

The Utopia Roadster offers a choice between an open and closed driving experience, or world-class orchestra for want of a better word. We first saw the coupé version of the Utopia some months back, but the new drop-top brings another depth of driving enjoyment, allowing occupants, as well as surrounding vehicles and entire villages, to experience what a proper naturally-aspirated V12 engine sounds like.

Set to make its appearance at the upcoming Monterey Car Week, the Utopia Roadster is a car of many firsts. It will be the first of its kind to enhance its safety systems, thanks to the innovative Pirelli Cyber Tyre, which is loaded with advanced sensors that enables the tyres to communicate with the car. Tipping the scales at a mere 1,280 kilograms, even with a hard top that blends seamlessly into the car’s profile, the Utopia Roadster weighs exactly the same as the Coupé, thanks to the clever use of composite materials.

As with all Pagani creations, it’s almost impossible to see two identical cars, and it seems the Utopia Roadster will be no different.  Thanks to the wide range of customisation options available, the personality of each client will shine through, with this launch specification showcasing just how wild one’s imagination can run. Red carbon fibre dominates the exterior, with a mixture of cream and tan for the interior, which naturally features Pagani’s signature exposed gearbox housing and chrome work.

While it may not be to every car lovers’ taste, Pagani has continuously tred a very different path to just about any car maker to ever exist, creating rolling art closer to a string of jewel than the fire-spitting hypercars they really are, and for that, we can’t help but love them!
