Description

"Presented in excellent condition throughout this truly unique example has been lovingly constructed in partnership with Mirage over a 26 year period.  The Countach was completed and IVA approved in 2016 and correctly registered as a ‘Mirage’. This wonderful example was in single private ownership for 32 years before it was acquired by our vendor in June 2022.
Incredibly, the car has only covered 462 miles since the completion of the build and has been lovingly maintained and dry stored ever since. The Mirage is a Mk. I and was constructed by the builder and previous owner, Bruce Waller, in unison with Mirage (Phil Cheetham). It is thought to be one of the first Mk. I, facelift 88.5 versions produced by Mirage. The body shell, said to have the exact dimensions of the real car, is fibre glass and is built over a space frame chassis; reportedly with a ‘Lee Noble’ influence. Consequently, the car drives and handles superbly according to the owner. The power comes from a very reliable Rover 3.5 litre V8 engine, naturally aspirated, mated to a Renault 30, five speed gearbox.
Since its acquisition by the current vendor, this Mirage has undergone various detailing to the interior and exterior to exemplary standards. The cockpit was extensively refreshed with additional period features added. The engine bay was detailed as well as the boot and bonnet areas which were also restored to a very high standard making the car truly stand out. Other notable features include electric windows, original 25th Anniversary Countach seats, a Mammitte ANSA exhaust system, and new period ‘Roin’ alloy wheels, in spectrum gold. This is one of the nicest examples we have seen and having covered a mere 462 miles since its build it presents in fantastic condition throughout. Offered with a history file including various sundry invoices, photographs and a current UK V5 registration document.Having achieved £71,680 for a similar example last year we believe this Countach is offered at a very attractive estimate and should be keenly contested at auction."
