Description

In 1993, the Honda Germany Factory Team commissioned the successful German racing team Seikel Motorsport to rebuild three brand-new NSXs for that year's ADAC GT-Cup. This particular car was the first of the three built and can be distinguished from the other two by its slight orange hue, which contrasts with the dark red liveries of its sister cars.

The car came equipped with magnesium 18” BBS rims, Brembo brakes, independent suspension with upper and lower triangular control arms, coil springs and shock absorbers at both the front and rear, a quick-lifting system, and a Matter roll cage. Under the bonnet sits an upgraded version of the NSX's V6 engine, with an increased output of 325 horsepower. Due to ADAC regulations, the NSX's weight could be reduced by 70 kg compared to the road car version.

For the first half of the 1993 season, the NSX was raced with great success by double 24 Hours of Spa winner Armin Hahne, who started the season with a podium finish at AVUS, followed by a win at Zolder, making Hahne the championship leader. After a sixth-place finish in its third and final race, the car was used as a spare for the remainder of the season. Later that same year, one of the sistercars once again proved the model's competitiveness, achieving pole position at the Spa 24 Hours with a staggering time of 2:37.840, only 6.8 seconds slower than a modern-day Manthey Porsche GT2 RS.

In the following years, this NSX was kept in Honda Germany's fleet before being sold to the owner of a Honda dealership on the outskirts of Düsseldorf, who used the car only for display purposes until his death a few years later.

For the past 18 years, the car has been under the same ownership—a successful amateur gentleman racing driver and sports & racing car dealer. He purchased the car with only 4,500 km on the odometer and has since used it on only two track days, resulting in the current low mileage of 5,381 km.

At the 2018 24 Hours of Spa, the car was presented by Honda to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1993 pole position. Auto, Motor und Sport featured the car in its March 1993 issue, a copy of which is included in the sale.

MOTIKON is proud to offer the opportunity to acquire a highly original, modern classic race car with authentic period provenance. Included in the sale are an ADAC GT Cup 1993 yearbook, various documentation, photographs from its racing days, and articles from Auto, Motor und Sport. The car is available for viewing at our Uppsala showroom. History, pictures, and videos, can be provided upon interest. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
