The Ford Model A Cabriolet, produced between 1928 and 1931, is a classic piece of automotive history, blending style, innovation, and practicality. It was part of Ford's revolutionary Model A line-up, which replaced the popular Model T and marked the beginning of a new era in automobile design. The Ford Model A Cabriolet was powered by a 3.3 litre, four-cylinder engine that produced 40 horsepower, which was a significant improvement over the Model T's engine. This allowed the Cabriolet to reach speeds of up to 65 mph, a noticeable upgrade in terms of performance for its time. The engine was paired with a three-speed manual transmission, making the driving experience both engaging and straightforward. What set the Cabriolet apart from other vehicles of the era was its design. It featured a stylish folding soft top, allowing for an open-air driving experience when the weather was right, and a fully enclosed body when needed. The elegant bodywork was complemented by chrome accents and stylish wheels, making the Cabriolet an attractive and sought-after model. Inside, the cabin was comfortable, with simple yet durable upholstery that reflected the utilitarian nature of Ford vehicles. The Model A Cabriolet was affordable, with a base price that was accessible to middle-class families while still offering a sense of prestige. Its versatility made it popular for both everyday driving and leisurely outings.
This Model A Cabriolet is thought to be just one of only three examples in the UK. It has clearly been restored at a high standard and presents in delightful condition. Finished in blue, with black running boards and a new beige hood, this Ford is certainly a handsome car. The vendor has carried out an extensive restoration over a long period. However, due to lack of use and the loss of suitable storage space, the time is right for the car to be sold. We are advised that the vehicle is not currently running although the vendor will try to have this rectified prior to auction. The issue is likely to be through lack of use, as the Model A was running when put into the garage. In right hand drive format, this stylish piece of Americana has a Dickey seat for occasional use. Offered for sale with a V5 and a history folder with a collection of receipts. Today, the Ford Model A Cabriolet remains a symbol of the early days of the automobile industry and continues to be celebrated by classic car enthusiasts around the world. Consigned by Stewart Banks.
