Originally conceived in 2005, the GT3 category grew to become one of the most popular in circuit racing history, with over 20 manufacturers building cars for the class in the first decade of competition.
While contemporary GT3 cars continue to be raced around the world, period GT3 racing is growing in popularity on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean at a rapid rate, with the introduction of series like the GT3 Legends, the Masters GT Trophy, and in HSR events including Sebring 12 Hour, Daytona 24 Hour and Classic Petit Le Mans.
The introduction of the 458 GT3 was revealed in 2011, the car subsequently becoming one of the most successful GT3 machines of all time.
RACING HISTORY
This car, Chassis 3254, was one of the first to be assembled and delivered to a customer with Vita4one Racing team receiving the car in March 2011.
Debuting at Monza, Chassis 3254 was successful from the outset, winning at Magny-Cours and then Silverstone en-route to an inaugural Blancpain Endurance Series Pro Am Championship title in its first year (2011).
While repeating the success the following season, in 2012, now operated by AF Corse, Chassis 3254 also claimed its first of two Spa 24 Hours Pro Am victories in the 2012, before again winning the coveted raced in 2014.
During its tenure in contemporary GT3 competition, Chassis 3254 was driven by several official Ferrari drivers including Alessandro Pier Guidi, Alberto Bertolini and Marco Cioci.
In 2017, having been shipped to the USA, Chassis 3254 was run by Philip Creighton Motorsports to numerous victories in historic GT3 events, including at Daytona, Indianapolis Mid-Ohio, Atlanta, notably driven by works Corvette driver, Andy Pilgim.
VEHICLE INFORMATION
Over 100 458 GT3 machines have been built by Ferrari since the car was first introduced in 2011, but few can boast the kind of CV that Chassis 3254 has to its name.
The last Ferrari GT3 to have the glorious naturally-aspirated V8 engine, controlling costs and reliability compared to its turbocharged successor, the engine produces 558 BHP @ 9000 RPM, mated to the Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox, with paddle shift.
Chassis 3254 has been meticulously maintained during its lifetime, and was born in an era of traction control and ABS. With 18-inch front wheels and 19-inch rear, braking is provided by Brembo six-piston up front and four-piston callipers at the rear
The car was restored under the supervision of Michelotto USA in late 2020, at which time it was returned to its 2014 Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours configuration, its last ‘modern’ race.
Chassis 3254 comes complete with Pre-Evo bodywork including front bumper, front wings, front flat floor, front splitter and rear bumper.
The car has original matching numbers engine, is accompanied with its logbooks to authenticate its history, and success.
