The Austin Healey 100 was built between 1953 and 1956, it was developed by Donald Healey to be produced in-house by Healey’s small car company. Healey built a single ‘Healey Hundred’ for the 1952 London Motor Show and the design impressed Leonard Lord, Managing Director of Austin, so much that a deal was struck with Healey to build it in quantity at Austin’s Longbridge factory.
The Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 offered at Autostorico is finished in its original colour of Carmine Red with Red leather interior trim. Supplied new on 12th August 1955 by Donald Healy Motor Company, Warwick as a LHD Export car this stunning example was factory specified with the following options: Laminated windscreen and MPH speedometer. Spending most of its life in the USA before returning to UK shores, the car was then purchased by its current owner a Healey enthusiast in 2019 with its body work fully restored and painted. He then undertook a no expense spared restoration carried out by marque specialist JME Healey’s of Warwick including converting the car to RHD. Works included a full mechanical overhaul including a full engine rebuild and fitting a BN2 four speed gearbox with overdrive. Other notable works included overhauling the suspension, braking system, re-wire and interior re-trim. Benefiting from wire wheels with knock off spinners, hood, tonneau cover and side screens.
This exceptional as new example is one of the best Healey’s we have ever driven, which should certainly appreciate further over time.
