To Infiniti and beyond

Despite being founded in 1989, Infiniti describes the Prototype 9 as “heritage inspired,” featuring the expected hallmarks of a retro-redesign, such as wire wheels, prominent grille, and single-seat layout. Powered by a modest electric engine, the EV evocation is no race winner, but it is undoubtedly a handsome machine. Perhaps influenced by the gorgeous Bentley Barnato Roadster Concept, the Prototype 9 will be officially unveiled at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance — whether it’s received as a forward-thinking design delight or an electric thorn among the roses is yet to be seen…
