We’re all for outlandish specifications here at Classic Driver, and the V8 Racing Collection in Bonhams’ Bond Street auction on December 15th includes seven of the wildest Aston Martin Vantages we’ve ever seen. Originally commissioned by one very important Aston Martin customer, each of these V8-powered Vantages shows less than 500km on the clock, but clearly the real selling point is their crazy colour combinations.
At a glance, it may seem the interior and exterior colours were chosen by spinning a big wheel with all of Aston Martin’s many, many available options, but in reality, each car is a tribute to an iconic racer from the British marque’s illustrious history. If you ask us, the standout is without a doubt the bright green-over-green Vantage which borrows its colour palette from Aston Martin's ‘Kermit’ Nürburgring 24h race car. The ‘Elwood Blue’ liveried car is also pretty spectacular, as is the ‘Rose’ V8 Vantage with its combination of yellow and green, but if you’re looking for something slightly more reserved, you can choose between the 'Asia Pacific Cup White’ and ‘Jet Black’ examples on offer.
While factory-mileage cars often come with the unspoken understanding that they’ll need some serious TLC if you ever intend on venturing onto the open road, thankfully that doesn’t apply here as all seven Vantages have each been recommissioned recently by the Stratton Motor Company. With estimates ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 pounds, if you’re looking to inject some colour into your garage, these could be the perfect cars for you!
