1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider - 'Veloce Tribute'
Looking for a snappy Italian piece of high-end engineering to throw around corners? Allow us to introduce the next icon! With a rich history and remarkable driving characteristics, Alfa Romeo has captured the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. So did this Giulia 1600 Spider. On 16 November 1964, this Italian beauty rolled off the production line to begin its journey through time.
On 7 June 1965, it found its way to the United States, where it spent its first years on American roads. But the desire to return to her homeland was inevitable. In 1991, she returned to Europe, where she was officially registered in beautiful Italian Milano in February 1992.
What makes this Giulia Spider truly special is her rare original colour, Giallo Paglierino, literally translated as 'straw yellow'. This is confirmed by Alfa Romeo Storico documentation. A handsome colour that was seen a lot more often on the Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring. It is a hue that gives the car a unique and striking character, making it stand out even more in the crowd of classic red Alfas.
Under the bonnet, this 1600 Spider has undergone an engine upgrade. One of the previous Italian owners had the car converted to the 'Veloce Spec' engine. Some modifications include; Double Weber carburettors with a correct intake, modified pistons for higher compression and Veloce camshafts. In short, tasteful original modifications that deliver a breathtaking driving experience.
With her smooth 5-speed gearbox and an engine that sounds like music to the ears, this Giulia Spider has taken countless road trips and proved herself time and again to be a fantastic driving partner. Her formidable sound and excellent handling make every drive unforgettable.
Her history, rare colour and fun engine upgrade make her a valuable representative of Alfa Romeo's well known spirited Spider. We drove it and soon knew; this is a little beast!
