Beschreibung
• One of 75 VIP Pace Car Replicas used at the 53rd Indy 500 in 1969
• Well-documented and in superb condition
• A genuine part of Bowtie motorsport history
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car was one of 133 Pace Car Replicas used for the 53rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 30th, 1969. It was used by Paul Haluza, an automotive journalist, who purchased the car from Chevrolet. It made its way to Sweden in 2011 and has 82,980 kilometers on the odometer.
At the time, Paul Haluza, the publisher of Stock Car Racing Magazine and Super Stock Magazine, drove the car at Indianapolis. After the race, he was the only person allowed to purchase the car from Chevrolet. The remaining vehicles were stripped of their graphics.
The sale was completed on May 31st, 1969, after which Paul drove the car back to Virginia. The car in question, number 115, VIN 124679N610686, remained in Paul’s ownership until October 19th, 2011.
This 1969 Camaro Pace Car is undoubtedly a prominent part of Bowtie history. The Dover White paint with the Hugger Orange stripes (50-A), graphics, cowl hood, and rally wheels were all unique to the Pace Cars replicas.
This specimen, one of 75 VIP/press cars, came with the orange houndstooth check interior (720A) – just like all replicas – and the Turbo Hydra-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. The engine is the L48 350 ci (5.7-liter) V8 developing 305 horsepower and a 3.07:1 final drive ratio with Positraction.
The car received a partial restoration in 1986 and a complete restoration between 2001 and 2003. Classic and modern classic car specialist MOTIKON has performed thorough inspection and service of the car. The purchase comes with all documents and trinkets of authenticity.
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car is a historically significant specimen of one of the most desirable pace cars. This car was used at the 53rd Indianapolis 500, making it a rare and sought-after example. The Camaro can be viewed at the MOTIKON showroom in Uppsala, Sweden.
