2019 ASTON MARTIN DBS SUPERLEGGERA ‘DBS 59’ SPECIAL EDITION
Offered to market for the first time by its sole owner, this exceptional ‘as new’ example of the ‘DBS 59’ Special Edition DBS Superleggera, the flagship model of the Aston Martin range.
Another visionary project by the team at Aston Martin Cambridge, following the success of their previous limited-edition creations, including the V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80 Edition and the Vanquish S Red Arrows Special Edition and wonderfully executed by the wizards of the Q division at Aston Martin, the ‘DBS 59’ Special Edition was announced in November 2018 with the total 24 cars quickly allocated.
Once built, the buyers of the 24 cars were then invited to participate in a ‘once in a lifetime’ handover weekend at the 2019 Le Mans 24 Hours, the 60th anniversary of Aston Martins outright victory at the same race, which included a recreation of the iconic running start and a lap of the La Sarthe circuit.
The ‘DBS 59’ honours the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours winning DBR1 through specially engineered styling cues, showcasing the expertise of ‘Q by Aston Martin’. The exterior is finished in Aston Martin Racing Green with gloss finish carbon fibre on the roof panel and side strakes.
Bronze details such as the ‘Superleggera’ bonnet badging, bespoke front grille, brake callipers and 21” forged Y spoke satin duotone wheels nod to the bronze switches and dials on the Le Mans winner. Further exterior details, such as the individually numbered roundel painted on the fender, a foil inlay – also in bronze –outlining the original shape, chassis number and engine number of the DBR1 on the rear aeroblade and the bespoke tyre wall arrow decal, breathe the spirit of racing into the already impressive performance of the DBS Superleggera.
Inside the cabin, the ‘DBS 59’ bespoke features continue; the seat back and door insert trimmed in heritage style material, created to replicate that of the material used in the DBR1. Bronze details continue with unique bronze shift paddles, a bespoke ‘59 Edition’ logo embroidered on the seatback, an evocative image of the DBR1 on the headlining, the sun visor embroidery giving the exact date the race took place and celebrating the 323 laps completed within the 24 hours and the 1959 Le Mans circuit embroidered on the rear speaker cover.
The ‘DBS 59’ were also supplied with replica heritage racing helmets, 1959 blue race suits and replicas of Carroll Shelby’s race gloves, along with a bespoke luggage set and a bespoke custom fit car cover.
Having now covered just 380 miles and benefitting from annual servicing at Aston Martin, this car is in immaculate condition throughout, protected since new by full body PPF, installed by Topaz and supplied with the complete compliment of ‘DBS 59’ accessories along with a model relevant cherished registration number.
