Beschreibung

The mid-1960s were a golden era for Italian car design, and the Maserati Ghibli is, without a doubt, one of the standout shapes. Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the long, wide, and low Ghibli made its main competition – the Ferrari Daytona – look almost pedestrian when sitting side by side. Powered by a 4.7-liter V-8 that was derived from the 450S race car of the 1950s, the Ghibli was capable of over 155 mph but still easy to drive around town thanks to the V-8’s prodigious torque. Dry sump lubrication allowed the Ghibli’s engine to be mounted low in the chassis, which both aided in handling and allowed for the car’s signature low hood line.

This fantastic example was built in May 1968 and sold to its first owner through Rolma Automobili in Milan, the following month. Originally finished in Oro Longchamps (Longchamps Gold) over brown Connolly leather, the car now wears an appealing color combination of Grigio Flemington (Flemington Gray), a period Ghibli color, over Senape (Mustard) Connolly leather hides. Under previous ownership, the car was restored to show quality as noted in a detailed summary on file and is accompanied by receipts for nearly $27,000 in additional mechanical work in current ownership. The Ghibli presents exceptionally well and is offered with a two-piece luggage set, upholstered to match the interior. This restored Ghibli offers outstanding performance and stunning looks, yet remains a remarkable value compared to other performance cars of the era.
