Estimated Price: £16,000 - £20,000
Introduced in June 1970, the Triumph Stag was conceived as a luxury convertible sportscar to rival the likes of the R107-series Mercedes-Benz SL. As such, it came equipped with electric windows, power-assisted rack and pinion steering and servo-backed disc/drum brakes as standard. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell, the newcomer featured all round independent suspension (McPherson strut front/semi-trailing arm rear) and a well laid-out 2+2 cabin. With some 145bhp and 167lb/ft of torque available from its bespoke 2,997cc SOHC V8 engine, the model was reputedly capable of 120mph.
With the 1970s now very much back in vogue, Stag ownership has never been more rewarding and the model has a healthy following with owners enjoying plenty of support from Clubs and Triumph specialists throughout the UK.
On offer here is an outstanding example of a second generation Stag from 1977. Fitted with the desirable overdrive manual gearbox, it has been superbly restored and presents beautifully in Tahiti Blue with biscuit Ambla trim and a matching hardtop. The V5C indicates six former registered keepers and the car had covered just under 87,000 miles at the time of photography. In the accompanying history file there are lots of invoices, including over 40 pages of parts invoices from Rimmer Bros, to a previous owner dated 2003 to 2011.
Anyone looking at our images can see that this restoration was a 'labour of love' with superb attention to detail and it belongs to the same owner as the Arctic White car, also in this sale. We cannot recall seeing a more attractive pair of Triumph Stags anywhere, so why not come along to our Supercar Fest Sale where the cars will be side by side and make up your mind then.
