For most cars there is a curve one can follow to monitor their prices for an average example. Every so often however there is a spike and this represents something very special indeed, this car is one of those spikes. In 20 years of car valuations in the auction industry, Historics has never seen a 944 of this quality. Under the bonnet there is not a spot of oil or grease mark to be seen. In our humble opinion, if you want the best, this is it. Indeed, Porsche Club of Great Britain, in their traditionally understated way described it as “very well presented and fully restored”. Their valuation however tells a slightly more effusive story, £23,000.

Presented in the official launch colour of metallic Velvet Red, it was originally sold through Porsche main agents, Coopers in Exeter. It was optioned with headlamp washers, white front fog lights, an alarm system, ABS braking and still has its very rare original Porsche sunroof bag. The service history is extensive with most recent invoices from Parr, Porsche specialists based in West Sussex. Just last year (52 miles ago) they carried out a major cambelt service to the tune of £2,791. Additional Parr invoices continue back to 2015 with further invoices right back to 2007. Also included, of course, is the correct owners pack with service book comprehensively stamped right up to last year or 53 miles ago. Most importantly however, is one of the most recent invoices. This details, over four pages, the cost of a full glass-out, bare-metal repaint by Parr, once again. Total cost, over £13,000. The current custodian has been meticulous in his maintenance and looks after his collection very well indeed and, interestingly, included is the original sales brochure featuring a similar car in this exact colour and specification along with a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB. These one year only, 2.7 litre models are becoming increasing rare and this car surly represents a wonderful example of Porsche's 1980s transaxle history. Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille
