Bring A Trailer NO RESERVE auction preview: Relatively low mileage long time California car in amazing colors.1980 Porsche 911SCChassis No. – 91A0142559Engine No. – *6402596*Exterior Color – Light Metallic BlueInterior Color – Black leatherEngine – 3.0 Liter 6-cylinder air cooled with Bosch K-Jetronic injectionTransmission – 5-speed manual Current Miles –82,670 milesCurrent Owner – purchased in 2019 with 77,000 milesGeneral HistoryIntroduced in 1978, the SC variant of the 911 referenced the former performance variant of the 356. Lacking a Carrera version of the 911SC the SC designation was assigned as “Super Carrera” and packed with the 3.0-liter Bosch injected engine and 915 5-speed manual transmission – a package that would prove to be among the most durable and iconic of the late series 911 models. As the concurrently developed 928 was intended to be the replacement for the 911, Porsche was poised on making an historically important decision – to remove the 911 from future production. Thankfully for decades of enthusiasts, the 911 remained in production in part because the 911 had evolved very well during this period, proven by sales which continued to increase well beyond company expectations. Desirable when first released, today the SC continues to be sought after by collectors who appreciate the balance of air-cooled, manual gearbox, captured in the iconic 911 body design. General OverviewAccording to the original owner’s manual included with this car, this Porsche was sold September 10, 1980, through Novak Porsche Audi in Omaha, Nebraska. Dealer service stamps in the manual show progressive consecutive and accumulated miles from 1980-1994. In late 1992, the owner moved to California and offered it for sale. By then the car had amassed just 28,380 miles when it was sold to the next owner who purchased it after a compression test showing all cylinders within 10%. The next owner, a resident of Berkeley, CA and believed to be the second owner, retained the car until 2019 when it was purchased by the current owner with 77,000 miles. Maintenance and ServicesCopies of service records show regular oil changes, interval services, and additional features including a new stereo in 1993, new airbox in 1993 (30,502 miles), 45k service in 1994 (42,004 miles), new alternator in 1995 (50,191 miles), a stereo upgrade 1996, and adjustable spring plates, 930 tie rods, steering rack spacers, Bilstein front shocks in 2000, cross drilled front brake disc rotors installed 2006 (72,184 miles). In 2008 Brooks Motor Cars, Oakland, CA performed body and paint work on the car totaling over $16,000.00 including work to the left door, quarter panels, engine lid, replacement of the left rear frame side member, new taillight, and adjustments to the exhaust and air conditioning lines. In 2019, a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45 ZR18 front and 255/35ZR18 rear tires were installed, aligned, and balanced. The current owner had the car serviced in 2019 including new upper and lower steering column bearings, brake fluid flush, major fluids and filter service, new belts, electrical work, new rear hood shock, and a new power antenna. That same year, the front bumper was refinished for cosmetic improvement, a new ignition switch installed, the starter rebuilt, and a new battery installed. In 2021, the engine was removed, and various hoses and gaskets replaced, a new clutch kit and pilot bearing was installed, new oil hoses, and a new engine insulation pad installed. In October 2024 with 82,531 miles, the oil and filter were changed and in December 2024, the car passed California emissions inspection with 82,641 miles indicated. In preparation for sale, February 2025, the fuel distributor and warm-up regulator were rebuilt, and a new cylinder fuel injector sleeve, O-ring, and fuel filter were installed. General ConditionToday with 82,670 miles indicated, this 911SC offers driver level cosmetics including paint that has been well maintained showing good gloss and smooth finishes throughout. The lenses, lighting, bumpers, accordion rubbers, and various trim and script are all in very good condition contributing to the overall cohesive visual presentation. The panel gaps are consistent showing good closures and tight fit, even for both doors which have very good part lines. The car is outfitted with a set of Fiske USA Rotary Forged 18” wheels wearing a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45 ZR18 front and 255/35ZR18 rear tires. The interior presents as a nice driver level car with black leather trimmed seats, black door panels, and black headliner, all of which appear to be original. The door panels, carpeting, and side panels have a generally good quality feel to the finishes, though showing evidence of use. Under the hood, the engine bay delivers a correct presentation reflective of original specifications. The engine is clean and well maintained displaying correct finishes having gently aged over the years. The front storage compartment is clean and well-maintained, though the current front hoor struts will need to be replaced. The front storage area is correct and contains an original collapsing spare tire and proper finishes consistent with original cars. The factory VIN is stamped in the correct location. The undercarriage is representative of an unrestored example with sound floor pans, Bilstein front shock absorbers, front cross drilled disc brakes, correct suspension components, and correct 915 series 5-speed gearbox. The car starts, stops, and drives though the left front brake caliper lightly hangs up when warm. The air conditioning does not currently deliver conditioned air, though the fan blower does operate on both heat (warm air to cabin) and air settings when the system is activated. The engine pulls strong in all gears, the shifter works smoothly, and the brakes operate well on a tall pedal. In all, this is a nicely maintained 911SC ideal for the motoring enthusiast to enjoy as is or improve over time.Items Included with the CarA tool roll with tools, a car cover, a pair of black floor mats, a Kryptonite steering wheel lock, owner’s manual, maintenance manual, radio and security manual, and two keys, and a valet key.
