Beschreibung
The first RennSport model of Porsche history was the Carrera 2,7 RS developed in 1973 for competition reasons. The success of this model was so important that the brand finally built three times more units than the 500 initially planed. The model 964 RS followed quite much time later in 1991, coming back to life the mythical 2,7 RS spirit and meeting an immediate success. Then the RennSport state of mind has been maintained for every 911 generations until the latest 991 GT3 RS. Presented in 1995 at Amsterdam motor show the 993 RS is a pure heiress of Porsche sport genes and not only for its last air-cooled flat-6 of the brand. The car received a lightweight treatment with an aluminum hood, lightened 18” rims, simplified inside door panels and several noise insulation and carpet reduction to reach only 1270 kg, meaning 100 kg less than the 993 Carrera 2. The very modern rear axle of the 993-generation is continued on the RS, its double aluminum triangles have a similar effect as rear steering wheels, bringing agility in aggressive turns and stability in high-speed curves. Finally the amazing flat-6 3,8 liters coupled with a 6-manual gearbox brings 300 horsepower at 6500 rpm allowing to reach 275 km/h at the end of the straight line! The limited edition 993 RS follows the initial RennSport spirit but with revolutionary technical solutions for a very efficient behavior, and powered with the mythical air-cooled flat-6.
