Meticulously maintained

Chassis 156159 was ordered and supplied through the Frankfurt Porsche dealership Otto Glöckler to Mr Cass, a serving member of the American Air force in nearby Rhein Air Base. Porsche confirmed the order on the 24th of November 1961, costing $3,570 dollars the car was specified in Slate Grey with a red leather interior and black soft-top. The car was delivered on the 12th of January 1962, it was maintained by Otto Glöckler until Mr Cass and his wife returned to California taking the car with them in 1964, the couple kept the car until 2005 and only sold due to Mr Cass’s ill heath not allowing him to drive the car, it was described at sale as a one-owner example complete with its original books, paperwork, fully matching numbers, original floors and original colour combination. The car was sold through the well-known 356 dealer Dirk Libeert in Belgium, a friend of our company, who sold the car onto a collector from Switzerland who began a complete overhaul of the car mechanically including having the engine rebuilt, 12-volt conversion and interior re-upholstered. The Odometer reading 3,280 miles was replaced under Swiss law with a kilometre odometer which read 25,000 kilometres. Keeping the car mainly in France, it was sold to the UK in the summer of 2015 where it was owned by a respected collector in North Yorkshire, later being acquired in 2017 by our client. During his ownership the car has been regularly serviced and in 2020 was subject to a repaint keeping the car's original colour of Slate Grey. The car is outstandingly original and is presented in excellent order throughout having just been serviced in preparation for sale. The car has always remained slate-grey and has never been repainted another colour.
Complete with all its original Porsche documents which I have added to the photo gallery which include, export declaration, German origin, receipt of delivery, original invoice, original order form, original order letter, proof of export, receipt of purchase, import ticket to the USA and more along with its Porsche certificate of authenticity which confirms the car is matching numbers, original service book, original owner’s manual and a huge history going back to when it was new, including invoices from each of its 4-owners.
