Beschreibung

During the American muscle car wars of the 1960s and 1970s, everyone knew the word “Hemi” equaled performance. Built by the Chrysler group, these Hemi engines were legendary for their big power and signature bright orange paint. In 1968, Plymouth developed a car known as the Road Runner that aimed to bring the muscle car back to its roots.

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is finished in Blue Fire with a light blue vinyl interior and was built new in one of the most desirable Road Runner specifications imaginable. A copy of the original window sticker on file notes that this example was heavily optioned, including the 426 Hemi engine, Super Track Pak, four-speed manual gearbox, and power steering.

According to a previous description, this Road Runner was subject to a rotisserie restoration at a cost of over $100,000, and photos of this restoration remain on file. A 22-page report by marque expert and author Galen Govier, along with other documentation, chronicles this example’s originality and build details. Under current ownership, in 2020, the Road Runner received a carburetor rebuild and upgraded rear disc brakes in place of the original drums. This Road Runner is an exceptional example, remaining in stunning condition and complete with extensive documentation. It would be a significant addition to any muscle car collection.
