EXTERIOR
Here we have a totally original UK survivor car that presents in it’s superb original Scotia White paint from factory.
Whilst there is patination to the front bumper, the bonnet and wheel arches therein lies the story – a car that looks exceptionally good for it’s 63k miles that can only be original once. Paint and panels are uniform throughout and after careful prep by our in-house team the car looks quite superb.
The main difference of the Evo TME versus the Evo VI was a redesigned front bumper with a more prominent splitter in order to generate higher downforce by reducing the amount of air getting underneath the car. The bumper also features larger air inlets (a 13% increase over the Evo VI) as well as a new air outlet on the off side featuring vanes to minimise impact of air leaving the car – creating less drag.
INTERIOR
Adjustable Alcantara Recaro seats hug you in all the right places and present in excellent condition with colour, shape and integrity illustrating careful use over the years. Clearly, while the no frills Mitsubishi dashboard and door cards are fairly uniform in design they have built to be robust and durable – showing little to no use with the rear seats and seat backs presenting as new.
The cabin is not only lifted by the unique seats but the centre piece MOMO wheel that features exactly the right width and diameter alongside the stitched gear knob that falls perfectly to hand. An OEM Alpine stereo fits in keeping with the original noughties aesthetic.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Thanks to a thorough service routine throughout it’s life, this TME is in excellent mechanical health and upon start is keen to fire and settle to a meaningful idle. No 172 is mechanically standard and was last serviced a handful of miles ago in November 2023 whilst the timing belt was last changed at 62k miles in 2019.
Drivetrain is reassuringly tight and the Active Yaw Control is incredibly effective, seamlessly transferring the torque to ensure the driver is not only 100% engaged but also extremely comfortable too.
No doubt, the car is at it’s very best when would up – so very capable and rewarding – but as a practical 5 door saloon it is refined in it’s road manners.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Wheels are provided by Enkei – famed for their motorsport pedigree – and have just been refurbished in a factory finish with all new stickers and centre badges. Recently installed Goodyear Ultragrip performance tyres have the bases covered for all seasons.
The brembo braking system is a formidable match for the power to weight ratio and the calipers have been previously stripped and blasted; looking fantastic behind the newly re-finished wheels.
HISTORY FILE
First registered by Millwood Mitsubishi, Gloucestershire in the summer of 2001 the car would receive it’s first service at 1,421 miles on the 17th July before going on to cover 57k miles – all supported and serviced on 15 occasions by the main dealer / Ralliart – up until 2011.
The car has been part of a collection for the last 14 years and RGC Motors of Cranleigh have looked after the car, as annotated by another 10 stamps in the original service book, with standard service items as well as attending to various hoses, bushings and a fuel neck filler kit. The MOT history over the last 10 years is just fantastic and acts both as a reference to the cars condition as well as reflecting the high standards of the owner.
No 172 has enjoyed sensible use over the years but most importantly the cars integrity cannot be questioned with factory paint throughout and an incredible service routine with every service invoice and MOT certificate from new all provided neatly and in chronological order in the history file.
