Beschreibung

"The 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, also known as the ‘Pagoda’, is a classic luxury sports car that epitomises elegance and performance. With its sleek and timeless design, it captivates car enthusiasts even today. Powered by a 2.3 litre inline-six engine, it delivers a smooth driving experience and impressive acceleration. The 230 SL features a unique, detachable hardtop resembling a pagoda roof, which adds to its iconic appeal. Its luxurious interior boasts comfortable leather seats, modern amenities for its time, and excellent craftsmanship. The 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL represents a perfect blend of style, power, and sophistication, making it a coveted collector's item.
This stunning example was supplied by franchised dealer Carols of Wolverhampton on 1st July 1964. The car changed hands in 1973 and was used until 1978 when it was placed in long term storage. It re-emerged in 2017 and has since undergone a comprehensive list of work. These works have been undertaken by two retired Carols of Wolverhampton mechanics who between them have an impressive 100 years of Mercedes experience. The list of items attended to include an overhaul of the brake calipers, servo, master cylinder, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. All brake hoses were replaced, as was the propshaft centre bearing mounting. The gearbox was overhauled and benefits from new bearings and fresh transmission oil. The original Bosch electric fuel pump was refurbished as was the entire fuel system including the fitting of new fuel pipes. The radiator has received an uprated core and all new hoses. A new head gasket was fitted and all engine gaskets have been replaced. The list of work continues and includes reconditioning the starter motor and injector pump. The engine bolts and engine mountings, distributor cap, all plug leads and plug caps have all been replaced. Evidence of further works is available in the history file for this car and includes sympathetic refurbishment of the interior, a respray and the fitting of a new mohair hood. Although, often said this car really is ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian."
