Beschreibung

Maybe, if you were a particularly lucky child in the mid-1980s you’d scurry down the stairs on Christmas morning, hurry to the tree and be greeted by a wrapped-up Sega Master System wrapped up under the tree. But if you were really, really, lucky and your parents had worked particularly hard that year, you could’ve been greeted by a wrapped present that looks suspiciously like a Lamborghini Countach.

This hypothetical Christmas morning revelation was made possible by a small Italian firm called Agostini, who decided that what the kids of Italy needed was scaled down supercars. Agostini took the Bertone wedge design, tumbled dried it and reformed it into a fibreglass body.

It’s believed that Agostini gained the right to build the scale models after a middle-eastern client purchased a new Ferrari and Lamborghini and wanted to give his children scale replicas. The Agostini scaled down examples ended up costing close to $50,000 each, around half the base price of a new full-size Countach. Despite the large price tag, the models sold out quickly and today remain difficult to attain.

Each car was made by hand by Agnostini’s craftsman taking close to 500 hours of work, the fibreglass bodies were built to retain the body proportions of the original, ensuring that the Juniors look as close to
the original as possible.

Just 20 Countach juniors are believed to have been built, with many considering the Countach the most desirable models. This example is an open-roof variant finished in a blue shade inspired by a custom commission Countach for Canadian-Businessman and F1-Team owner Walter Wolf.

The fibreglass body work is in excellent condition, with no cracks on damage. Despite the age, the craftsman ship still shines through. The Baby Lambo’s blue finish presents a deep shine that is accented by a black lower front valance. 10” scale replicas of the original car’s wheels, finished in a suitable gold-shade are deployed to complete the look.

The theme of quality is continued to the interior, as you’d expect is a scaled down Countach, with tan hide and beige carpets and a suitably petite MOMO leather wrapped steering wheel, with space for two children…or one adult.  Whilst in the engine bay you won’t find a V12, you will be met with a 399cc Briggs & Stratton engine mated to a 2-speed automatic gearbox. It produces around 12bhp, which is plenty to hustle the car along with some relative pace.

A Countach is a poster car for many of us, and what better thing to add to your collection than a highly accurate scale model. This example is special not only because of its craftsmanship, but also for its affinity to the custom commissions ordered by Walter Wolf.

At any rate opportunities to purchase these highly desirable scaled down supercars come few and far between. It has been in the same collection for the last decade and has always remained dry-stored and on display. So now is your chance to satisfy the dreams of your inner child, or your actual child.

As with all our vehicles, a full digital folder is available on request containing more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
