Beschreibung

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings, and on the roadster the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early drophead coupes, an aluminum centre dash panel with an X pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-type. It was discontinued after June 1958. Thinner doors gave more interior space. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. The four-wheel Dunlop 12 in disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with drums. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well-appointed sports touring cars capable of 137mph and 0-60 in 7.8seconds, as well as accomplishing long distances with alacrity.

Originally sold by Jaguar Cars in New York on 2nd May 1960, this XK150 presents beautifully in Old English White with contrasting red leather interior. It was repatriated to the UK in November 1989 and appears to have been restored to a very high quality in the early 90's. Presumably this is when it was converted to right hand drive format. The restoration included a bare metal respray, photos are available of the restoration. Fitted with a 3.8 litre engine and overdrive to the manual gearbox, making this a thoroughly enjoyable Jaguar to drive. The engine was fitted by T & L Engineering, specialists in Jaguar XK engines, the also carried out an extensive overhaul of the braking system. Further restoration work was carried out in 2002 and new chrome wire wheels fitted around 2005.

In addition to this a new wood-rim steering wheel has been fitted along with, Electric - Hydraulic Power Steering system, electronic ignition system with new spark plugs and HT & LT cables, new High Performance Ignition Coil, Kenlowe twin cooling fan and sensors. All courtesy of M & C Wilkinson Jaguar. It has also been converted to run on unleaded fuel. Clearly a much-loved example this Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe is in exceptional condition. Interested parties are advised to view the car in person to appreciate the quality of the workmanship. Consigned by Stewart Banks.
