Beschreibung
Estimated Price: £30,000 - £40,000 Carrying on from the legend that was the original Sierra RS Cosworth, the Sapphire brought in a new age for the already legendary marque with a more restrained profile and demeanour, all the while taking things up a notch in terms of refinement, comfort and most importantly, performance. Early rear-wheel drive cars such as this were graced with the effervescent YBB engine (205 block), T5 gearbox, Recaro seats and front and rear spoilers. 0-60mph took only 6.1 seconds going on to a top speed of 150mph, dizzying stuff for the humble 'Blue Oval' four-door saloon.
First registered on 26th February 1990, this particular Sapphire has been used sparingly. Flush with numerous accompanying books such as its Ford service plan, Ford Audio Handbook and service book displaying four stamps, dated 17th December 1990 at 9,868 miles, 27th November 1991 at 17,420 miles, 16th January 1993 at 22,197 miles and 30th July 1993 at 26,443 miles. The odometer currently displays 31,087 miles, equating to an annual average mileage of just a touch over 880 miles per year. The car's history file and dealer book pack also contains a selection of previous V5Cs, MOT certificates, tax discs and immobiliser details and associated paperwork. At 29,330 miles, the Sierra benefited from a substantial overhaul including a new fuel tank, new belts, water pump, timing belt, battery and a change of all fluids. In 2016 the brakes were also overhauled with new EBC discs and pads on both front and rear.
With the amount of cars on the market that have been subject to various performance and cosmetic modifications, it is rare to find one still presented as intended from the factory at Genk in Belgium. If you are looking for an original unmolested, low-mileage example of the Sapphire RS Cosworth, this is a worthy contender. Being the lighter and more driver-focused variant of the Sapphire, this car is sure to attract both collectors and drivers alike into the world of RS ownership. We welcome and encourage your inspection of this increasingly desirable Cosworth.
