The Ford P100 is a car-based pick-up that was built from 1971 to 1993, initially in South Africa, and later in Portugal. It was based on medium-sized passenger cars, originally the Cortina and from 1988 the Sierra. The P100 name had previously been used on a small North American panel van in the 1960s. In late 1987, for the 1988 model year, the P100 was rebodied with a new Sierra based cab. Engine choices were originally the Sierra's 2.0 litre 'Pinto' petrol engine, with a 1.8 litre turbo diesel following soon thereafter. It proved a strong seller, particularly on the UK market. Production of the P100 ceased when the Sierra was replaced by the Mondeo range. In recent years the Sierra-based P100 has gained a following in drifting and modifying circles, and many are becoming modified to include Cosworth engines, which are based on the truck version of the Pinto block. The very fact that they are so easily modified under the bonnet and inside the cab has made the P100 extremely popular in cruise circles.

Not only did you think you'd never again see a P100, but this one is only two owners from new and all the paperwork supports it to have ridiculously low mileage of 12,500 miles. A quick look around the vehicle interior supports this claim. The first owner used this vehicle sparingly having covered 10,000 miles in the first 11 years. The service book has regular stamps and in 2006 the vehicle was sold to its second owner who has had the truck until now. There is little in the paperwork to show works carried out and it seems it was SORN for most of his ownership and kept as part of a small collection- he clearly loved the ownership of this special vehicle as his father was a builder and he owned P100s as his regular mode of transport.

During his ownership, further improvement works were carried out which included a major cleaning prior to a full underside Waxoyle. Some engine components were also replaced or painted following the removal to ensure this job was carried out correctly. There are some photographs of these works. In lockdown further improvements took place including painting the chassis, underfloor and wheels followed by a service.

There is an invoice in the owner's name for the purchase of a cambelt which suggests he fitted it and another cambelt appears to have been purchased when the truck was showing 12,570 miles. This truck is in a very credible condition and mechanically feels and sounds like a new vehicle. Best of all it comes with its invoice from new showing what it came with, the desirable and expensive Truckman top and it has a current MoT test certificate which expires in September 2025.
