This beautiful Mustang cabriolet from 1968 was first registered in Zurich on the 13th of January 1970. After a succession of owners, the car, which by then was in a rather sorry state, was taken over by an enthusiast. He decided to have his pony car completely restored investing a great deal of money and effort. The coachwork received numerous new panels such as doors and bonnets and the Mustang was finally repainted in “Raven black” with red accents. The interior, in dark red (maroon) vinyl, was refreshed and new carpets as well as a Grant wooden-rim steering wheel were installed. The soft top was replaced and the car equipped with all the proper GT Insignia. The complete mechanical side was overhauled including the four-speed manual gearbox and the rear axle with its locking differential. The engine received a welcome upgrade courtesy of Ford SVO GT40 aluminium heads, forged pistons and other mechanical goodies resulting in a healthy 310 hp output. Six years and around 100’000 Swiss francs later the Mustang finally made its grand entrance once again and in October 1997 received its MOT blessings. A photographic documentary as well as receipts for parts and labour are available. In 2021 the Ford was taken over by the last owner and used for occasional outings. This beautiful high-performance cabriolet is in good to very good condition and will be handed over to a new enthusiast with the latest Veteran MOT completed in February 2021.
