Stunning the world upon its unveiling at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Ford’s second iteration of the modern GT proved that the company could still produce a world-beating, mid-engine supercar, and Ford intended to prove this in the crucible of motorsports—specifically at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fitted with a 647-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine mated to a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch transmission, the GT could race to 60 mph from a standstill in less than 3.0 seconds on the way to a top speed of 216 mph.
Prioritizing low weight and aerodynamic efficiency, the car’s bodywork ingeniously channeled air to its engine and brakes while maximizing downforce. Anchored by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers and huge 15.5-inch rotors up front, the GT also employed hydraulic power steering, making for a racecar that by every account provided satisfying feedback to the driver. Efficient architecture was so prioritized that the sport seats were fixed rather than adjustable, and the pedal box and steering wheel were designed to adjust around the driver rather than vice versa.
Demand for Ford’s newest supercar was (and remains) insatiable; applications outnumbered available chassis allotments by nearly tenfold at the model’s official launch.
Ford implemented a stringent application process, handpicking loyal Ford enthusiasts and mandating that they keep their cars for an extended period. Only 1,350 GT examples are planned through the 2022 model year, with production being handled by Multimatic of Markham, Ontario, Canada. As such, the current GT iteration is a far rarer and more potent offering than previous, with nearly 2,700 fewer examples scheduled than the 2005–2006 GT model.
SERIAL NUMBER K075
This exceptionally well specified 2019 Ford GT left the factory uniquely finished in stunning Ingot Silver over an upgraded “Dark Energy” Interior and was delivered new to Mark Martin Ford of Batesville, Arkansas. As shown on its window sticker, the car came fitted from the factory with a matte-finish carbon-fiber exterior package, red brake calipers, 20-inch matte-finish exposed-carbon-fiber wheels, and titanium lug nuts.
Delivered new to the Ford dealership in Batesville Arkansas owned by Nascar legend Mark Martin, the GT was initially registered in the state of Montana before being sold to the current owner in 2021. It is now offered in as-new condition, showing only 187.1 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing.
With its blistering performance, spectacular aerodynamic design, cutting-edge technology, and proven Le Mans-winning pedigree, the new Ford GT is the ultimate addition to any Blue Oval car collection and a must-have for motorsports enthusiast and supercar connoisseurs seeking to own the most extreme expression of American automotive engineering. Beyond its considerable inherent rarity and appeal, this example is particularly attractive given its factory carbon-fiber options and other tasteful specifications.
