This meticulously built Deluxe Coupe is a sensational example of a tastefully modified hot rod. The Coupe started as a rust-free California car and Ken Stuart of Newport Beach, California, a 1940 Ford expert, had it professionally restored. The metal and paintwork was completed by Tom Rodriguez of Cyprus Auto Body & Paint Inc. and the upholstery was done by Gabe Lopez of San Bernardino, California, one of the most famous hot rod upholsterers in the country. The Ford was assembled by Rod Tech of Costa Mesa, California, and fitted with a host of desirable equipment, including a Chevy 350 crate engine, Ford 9” rear end, power front disc brakes, Turbo 350 automatic transmission, Mustang front suspension, and a Vintage Air air-conditioning system.

The Coupe is further distinguished by its steel, not fiberglass, bodywork and stock fenders and bumpers. With low mileage since the build, the consignor, a prominent collector of the world’s most significant automobiles, notes that the Ford is fast and smooth, with sporty driving characteristics. This is also a practical and highly usable hot rod, with its air-conditioning and automatic transmission. With its Art Deco styling, powerful drivetrain, and creature comforts for drivability, this Deluxe Coupe would be an excellent weekend cruiser and could even serve as a great choice for vintage tours.
