In period, Ford marketed the De Luxe Roadster as the car for those with the "Spirit of Youth." With a convertible top, De Luxe appointments, a comfortable rumble seat, and a thin chromed windshield frame, it did not disappoint on looks! Nor did its 221 cu-in V8 "flathead" powerplant that produced 85 horsepower. It's easy to see why the De Luxe Roadster was the star of Ford's 1936 lineup and no doubt why this example was treated to a detailed and comprehensive restoration later landing in two highly noteworthy car collections.

Restored in Black with a green pinstripe and green body color wheels with Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewall tires, the Roadster is topped with a well-fitted oatmeal color soft top that has a slight hint of green that ties the exterior colors together with ease. The chrome windshield frame, bright finished V8 hubcaps, wheel trim rings, and correct Twolite headlamps decorate the impressively finished bodywork. The interior and rumble seat are upholstered in medium brown leather with a simulated wood dashboard and brown three-spoke banjo steering wheel with V8 horn button. Set within the dash are an oil and fuel level gauge, a water temperature and amperage gauge, and a Ford-branded speedometer. The engine compartment is restored with appropriate finishes, original Stromberg 97 carburetor, and correct componentry.

After restoration, this beautiful De Luxe Roadster entered the world-renowned collection of Michael Dingman. A major Ford shareholder, Mr. Dingman was also a Ford Motor Company Director and held high-level positions within the company for over 20 years. Dingman was also known for his best-of-the-best Ford and Lincoln collection that included exquisitely restored station wagons, early Ford race cars, and V12-powered Lincoln-Zephyrs. Later, in 2006, it joined the esteemed Milhous Collection of Boca Raton, Florida equally well known for the high quality of collector cars housed within. In 2012 it joined numerous important pre-war automobiles, Dearborn and Grand National winners among them, housed at the Academy of Art University Collection in downtown San Francisco. While the interior seating shows light signs of use, it largely remains as it did while in the Dingman and Milhous Collections, a sure sign to the quality of its highly authentic restoration. It is offered with 259 miles on its odometer, a total likely accumulated since restoration, side curtains in bag, and the expectation of many more miles to be added by those with the Spirit of Youth in the coming years.
