Beschreibung
Introduction
The Dino Spider is a testament to the collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari. Named "Dino" in honor of Enzo Ferrari's son who played a pivotal role in designing the V6 engine used in Ferrari's Formula 2 race cars. In the late 1960s, Ferrari faced a production challenge: FIA regulations for Formula 2 required manufacturers to produce at least 500 engines to gain accreditation. Limited by its production capacity, Ferrari partnered with Fiat to manufacture the engines needed to meet the FIA's regulations. Fiat's technical office paired the sophisticated Ferrari engine with a five-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and disc brakes to produce a sports car with a motorsport pedigree. Pininfarina's son Segio and son-in-law Renzo Carlis designed the Fiat Dino Spider, which was billed as the "Dream car attainable by many".
Condition and Restoration
With its well-preserved original features and low mileage, this example offers a rare glimpse into the golden age of motoring. The same owner has meticulously maintained this 1967 Fiat Dino Spider for 23 years. It features minor updates, including a Momo steering wheel, black soft-top, and modern alloy wheels, although the original wheels are also included. Resprayed in its original Rosso Corsa 121, it maintains a beautiful appearance. The period-correct black leather interior is in excellent condition with no tears, while the dashboard has some minor blemishes. Powered by a 2.0-litre V6 engine and a documented mileage of 17,235 kilometres, the car has a full-service history, ensuring its continued reliability and appeal.
As one of only 1,163 units produced between 1966 and 1969, this Fiat Dino Spider 135AS represents a rare and sought-after classic car. The car's Ferrari heritage, Pininfarina design, and performance make it a highly desirable collector's item. More than just a beautiful car, it also offers solid investment potential. Its unique history, excellent condition, and low mileage further enhance its value and appeal to discerning collectors.
