The stage was set for the 550 Maranello as the Prancing Horse unveiled its newest grand tourer at the Nürburgring in 1996. The decision by Ferrari bosses to launch the car at the famous German circuit was a deliberate move, immediately drawing attention to the model’s impressive performance potential. The 550 Maranello was built around a 5.5-litre V-12 engine, delivering 485 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque; it became Ferrari’s flagship 12-cylinder two-seater, and was hailed as an indirect successor to the legendary Testarossa. Only ever offered with a six-speed gated manual transmission in production guise, the 550 Maranello has earned a reputation over time as an exciting and rewarding driver’s car.

The consigning owner placed the order in August 1997 and on leaving Maranello, the beautifully specified machine was distributed by Autoropa, the official Ferrari dealer in Arlöv, Sweden.
