Beschreibung
- Benefitting from a complete bare shell restoration
- Still in its original Verde Pino over Grigio specification
- One of only 422 manual gearbox examples built
In 1972, Ferrari launched the 365 GT4 2+2, a model whose timeless design drew inspiration from the legendary 365 GTB/4 "Daytona." The success of this design would extend its life for nearly two decades.
Originally powered by a 4.4-liter V12 engine, the model received an upgrade in 1976 with a larger 4.8-liter V12, leading to its rebranding as the 400 GT—Ferrari’s first model to offer an automatic transmission. In 1979, Ferrari introduced fuel injection, evolving the model into the 400i, a car that seamlessly blended effortless performance with the style and comfort expected from a grand tourer. As one of the last affordable classic Ferraris featuring the iconic front-engine V12 layout, these cars are becoming increasingly collectible, especially when equipped with the rare 5-speed manual transmission, of which only 422 units were produced.
This Motorcar
This Ferrari 400i was delivered new to the Swiss market in the beautiful and timeless colour combination of a Pino Verde exterior beautifully complemented by a Grigio interior with the sought after option of a manual gearbox, one of only 422 examples specified with this option. The car was handed over to its first owner, Mr M. Pedrolini on the 15th April 1982, through the Ferrari dealership Autodino in Zurich.
In 2004, the car was purchased by German enthusiast, Mr H. Kazmaier, who notably kept the car for 13 years, adding only 10,000 km to the odometer. During his ownership the car benefitted from great maintenance, accompanying invoices from Ferrari Gohm showing a mechanical overhaul in 2004 for 19,000 EUR, and later, in 2014, a complete engine overhaul for 33,000 EUR. Prior to 2017, when the car was imported to Sweden by a known collector, The specialists at Ferrari Gohm conducted a full bare shell restoration of the car, keeping it in its original combination of a Pino Verde exterior and Grigio interior. Pictures from the restoration are available at request.
Even though the car has only travelled 1000 km since its Sweden arrival, the meticulous maintenance has continued and Authorised Ferrari workshop Autoropa has inspected the car, and addressed every issue identified, with accompanying invoices totaling 100 000 SEK.
To conclude we proudly present a fully restored, well maintained manual gearbox example of the Ferrari 400i in an exquisite Verde Pino exterior. Included in the sale is the original service book, pictures documenting the restoration and a folder containing invoices and various documentation. Documentation, pictures and videos can be sent in case of interest. Do not hesitate to get in touch.
