Beschreibung
The Ferrari 348 GT Competizione holds a significant place in Ferrari’s lineage of track-focused, road-going specials, serving as the origin to the Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, Speciale, and Pista models that followed. Built in 1993 as a lightweight, performance-enhanced version of the 348 TB, it was a true homologation special designed for GT racing.
Weight reduction was the key to the performance of this ultimate 348 variant. Seats are F40 type Kevlar/ carbon fibre racing buckets, doors, sills, front and rear bumpers are also composite, and the wheels are unique 18" split-rim Speedline items, hiding the 15-inch F40 ventilated Brembo discs. Inside, the interior was stripped, the upholstery was replaced by lightweight fabric and the rear window replaced by Lexan. The total weight saving is often quoted as a remarkable 190kg over a standard 348. Complementing the improved power to weight ratio are more focused adjustable springs & dampers enabling a revised suspension set-up and a rod-connected gearshift.
Production was extremely limited, with only 50 examples built worldwide, of which just 8 were built in right-hand drive for the UK market. The 348 GT Competizione is the rarest of all the contemporary ‘Special Series’ V8 Ferraris ever produced.
We are delighted to offer for sale car number 38 of 50. Originally supplied by Charles Hurst Ferrari in October 1994, this rare right-hand drive example has covered just over 27,000 miles from new and has been meticulously maintained throughout its life.
In March 2024, the car underwent a comprehensive major service and mechanical overhaul at JCT600 Leeds Ferrari ensuring the car presents in sublime condition and drives superbly. With just three owners from new, it comes complete with its original books, spare keys, tool kit, tyre inflator, torch, and an extensive history folio, including MOT certificates and service records dating back to 1998. Red Book Classiche Certification is also underway at the Ferrari factory.
As one of just eight right-hand drive examples ever built, this true homologation special represents a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Contact us today for more details or to arrange a viewing.
