Unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Salon in 1985, ten years after the introduction of the 308, the 328 debuted an elegantly updated version of the Pininfarina wedge design worn by its predecessor. With its improved cabin ergonomics and more powerful 3.2-liter V8, the 328 was stunningly beautiful, well balanced, and relatively easy to maintain, and it remains so today.

This U.S.-market 328 GTS hails from the final year of production, and as a result, benefits from technical improvements implemented in late 1988 for 1989 model-year U.S. 328s. These include the addition of anti-lock brakes identified by its Mondial-like convex 16-inch wheels, as well as an altered suspension geometry to provide anti-dive and zero offset. Completed in March 1989, chassis number 80610 was finished in a classic Rosso Corsa exterior over Nero Connolly leather upholstery, complemented by rarely seen factory Rosso carpets.

The new Ferrari was purchased by its original owner in June 1989 from Kessler Motors in New York showing approximately 99 delivery miles at the time. From there, the car is understood to have been transported via flatbed directly to a climate-controlled storage facility, where it would remain in pristine showroom condition for the next 21 years. In June 2012, the 328 emerged from storage for a major $30,000 service which is said to have encompassed replacing timing belts, hoses and fuel pump, and an inspection of the brakes, clutch, and transmission. Showing just 106 miles, the Ferrari subsequently passed to its second private owner, with the CARFAX Vehicle History Report noting that the car was exported to the United Kingdom on 18 April 2013. By July 2019, the car had returned to the United States under new ownership, followed by numerous service visits to Ferrari of Austin, Texas and Ferrari of Newport Beach, California. Service to address the car's very modest use included replacement of the cam belts in 2019, followed by replacement of the shift shaft seals, timing belts, injector seals, fuel-line seals, and radiator cap in 2020. Additionally, the air-conditioning system was recharged with R12 refrigerant in March 2020.

Now offered with 244 miles at the time of cataloging, this superb time capsule 328 GTS and its accompanying accessories are presented in virtually as-new condition. These include its original owner's manuals, tool kit, jack kit, and spare. Its exceptional originality is further underscored by its appearance at the 2020 Cavallino Classic where the car was awarded First in Class. Additionally, this exceptional 328 GTS was granted Ferrari Classiche certification in 2021, confirming its status as a reference example that retains its original, matching-numbers engine and transmission. Desirable as a final-model-year, ABS-equipped example in its own right, this preservation-grade example of the ultimate 308/328 evolution is fully deserving of a place in any collection of low-milage sports cars.
