Beschreibung
As is well known, the Continental Mark II debuted as a bold statement of luxury and style, crafted to rival the finest cars in the world. Produced under Ford Motor Company's exclusive Continental division, the Mark II embodied elegance with its timeless design, complete with its signature simulated rear spare. At $10,000, it was the most expensive American car of its time, simultaneously ensuring exclusivity and a bevy of custom features.
Every detail of the Mark II reflected masterful craftsmanship. The finest leathers were sourced from Bridge-of-Weir, Scotland, where hides were hand-combed, kneaded, and "antiqued" to achieve remarkable softness and strength. Only one in every hundred hides met the Mark II's exacting standards. With its 126-inch wheelbase and nearly 5,200-pound frame, the Mark II offered a driving experience as refined as its design, blending aristocratic modernity with understated luxury.
According the to the Continental Mark II Database, chassis number 2626 was originally finished in "01" Black over a "1P6N" interior specified with Black leather seat biscuits & White leather seat bolsters and Black welting all part of the Continental's "All Leather Trim Schemes." Originally delivered via Park Motor Sales of Highland Park, Michigan in December 1956, this Continental Mark II features a comprehensive restoration in its original livery. While the earliest days of this Continental Mark II are less known, research shows that by 1981 it was acquired by German film star Elke Sommer. By 1991 the car was brought to Germany.
Between 2008 and 2016 chassis number C56N3498 was the subject of a full and comprehensive photo-documented restoration. The results speak for themselves as the car, nearly 70 years old, appears very much as it did when delivered back in Michigan in 1956! Under single family ownership since 1991, this rare Mark II is offered with 742 miles since its restoration and is located in Germany.
