Beschreibung
This remarkable Town and Country has led an interesting, if uneventful life, but is presented today as one of the most original examples to exist. According to the consignor, the first owners of this Chrysler donated it as a raffle prize to their local county fair and rodeo in picturesque Spooner, Wisconsin, in about 1964 – a partial decal from the event remains on the windshield. The winners of the car were a young, engaged Wisconsin-based couple who drove the convertible on their honeymoon; then for reasons unknown, they simply parked the car, where it would sit, untouched, in a shed on their property for the next 40 years. In 2004, it was acquired from the couple by the consignor, via the renowned restorer Bob Lorkowski of Wisconsin.
Upon its extraction from the shed, the Town and Country was found to be in remarkable, unrestored condition, showing only about 11,000 miles. The consignor believes that a majority of its Heather Green paint, interior – including the unusual woven saran material on the seats and side panels – exterior wood, and folding top are original to the car. Brought to running condition in the consignor’s hands, minor wood repair has been performed and a modicum of mileage has been added. Examples of this beloved Chrysler model are very seldom found to retain such outstanding vintage finishes, and close inspection by devotees of unrestored rarities is encouraged.
