The mid-2000s were a strange time for Bentley. The influx of VW-backed development gave the world, or more accurately most of the premier league the Continental GT and whilst it gave Alan Sugar the Flying Spur it left behind the Arnage.

The Arnage however, was a hangover from a pre-aquisition period. Originally Aranage models were supplied using a BMW-derived engine, but when VW acquired the brand, it was deemed inappropriate to continue on that path, and Bentley would revert to the 6.75-litre V8 of days gone by.

The Arnage T, at launch, became Bentley’s most powerful road car, producing a gargantuan 500bhp and 1000nm of torque. To achieve those figures, two turbos were bolted to the push-rod V8 and a newer ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox was employed.

This particular example is a 2005 facelift model, supplied new by Bentley Manchester it benefits from the ‘Mulliner’ specification. Externally, the car is finished in Iridium Green. The paintwork is in great condition with only a handful of age-related marks. The wheels are 19” two-piece split rims, which are all in excellent condition finished in their original shade of silver. The full set is wrapped in a matching set of Bridgestone rubber.

Step inside and it’s a typical Bentley. The interior is trimmed in Moccha Leather with contrasting Savannah stitching. A theme that extends across the headlining, and dashboard as well as to the carpets. The centre console and dashboard are finished with dark stained burr walnut trim, whilst the driver's instrument cluster is housed by turned aluminium.

Everything works as it should inside, the Mulliner speciation adds heated and electric seats amongst other benefits like sat-nav and cruise control. The instrument cluster shows the car has covered just under 41,000 miles.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the aforementioned twin-turbocharged V8, proudly wearing its plaque stating it was handbuilt in Crewe. The engine bay is clean, tidy and free from any damage. The engine runs incredibly well, and the car drives without fault, no doubt thanks to its excellent service history. Its most recent work being undertaken by Ranmore Service and Engineering included rear brakes, suspension work, air conditioning service and a wheel alignment.

The Arnage T is a car with pace, space and grace, it is unequivocally cool and offers any future owners huge amounts of power and huge amounts of luxury. This specific car is finished in an excellent colour combination that is unlikely to be seen again. A well-maintained example that could be the perfect addition to your collection.
