The International Watch Company was founded in 1868 in Switzerland, by the American watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones. In 1890, IWC introduced its first Grand Complication pocket watch, comprising more than 1,300 parts. In 1978, the company began a collaboration with Porsche Design, producing some fascinating results. In 1985, IWC created the 'Da Vinci', the first watch to house a revolutionary perpetual calendar mechanism accurate for 500 years. Today, the company is a member of the Richemont Group.
