Silver Arrow: IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil

This year, Swiss watch brand IWC revved up its engineering skills to create a watch with the heart of a racing car: the limited-edition Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil, dedicated to the legendary Mercedes-Benz 'Silver Arrows'...

The dial recalls the dashboard of the Mercedes W25

The chronograph's dial, with its circular graining in silver or brown, recalls the dashboard of the Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix racing car W25, the first of the Silver Arrows, and the car in which Rudolf Caracciola celebrated some of his most important victories. The watch’s strap has a black rubber surround and an alligator leather inlay, visually reminiscent of 1930s motorsport – think of those leather belts typically used to secure the bonnets.

Under the 'bonnet' of the watch is the double-pawl winding of the IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre, an outstanding engineering achievement that is capable of ensuring a power reserve of 68 hours.

A limited edition of 1,000 copies (per variation) of the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil is being produced, each with an engraved, stylised Silver Arrow racing car on the case back.

With thanks to Mercedes-Benz Classic for the use of the Mercedes-Benz 'Silver Arrow' W25.
