Description

1960 PORSCHE 356 COUPE BT5 1600
Series 112004
Restored

Historically, the Porsche 356 was the first sports car manufactured and marketed by Porsche. Conceived by Ferry Porsche on the mechanical basis of the Volkswagen and designed by Erwin Komenda, it went into series production from 1948 to 1965. Technically, it is a monocoque with four independent wheels and a four-cylinder engine in a rear cantilever. Production of the 356 lasted more than 17 years, and 78,000 units were built. The 356 was originally available as a coupé and a cabriolet, then at Hoffmann's request a Speedster version was created. Most versions took part in competitions, and its track record is impressive. The 356 is well-built, reliable, light and agile. It was the first to assert "Porsche" quality. The 356 B came out in 1960 and was replaced by the 356 C in 1964. The Porsche 356 has since become a legendary car!
This Porsche 356 BT5 Coupé was delivered new in 1960. Its Porsche Certificate tells us that it was born in July 1960. The current owner acquired it from an Italian specialist in 2017 and then imported it to France.
Our example features ivory-white bodywork and red upholstery in remarkable condition.
