Description

"The MGB was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MGA. Performance was brisk with power supplied by a 1798cc four-cylinder iron block engine set within a monocoque lightweight bodyshell with crumple zones incorporated. October 1965 saw the introduction of the GT and was based on the already popular roadster. Designed by Pininfarina, the new GT sported a hatchback giving useful access to the rear luggage space and a rear bench seat that enabled the car to be called a 2+2. Although acceleration was slightly slower than the roadster, top speed was better by 5mph due to the increased aerodynamic efficiency.
We are delighted to offer what can only be described as one of the finest examples of the MGB GT in the current market. Originally registered in August 1972, this GT has benefitted from a ‘no expense spared’ total rebuild and now presents extremely well in gleaming white coachwork with a black interior. It is not difficult to see why this car is described by the vendor as 10/10 in every regard. The list of works undertaken is comprehensive and includes a bare metal respray, rebuilt engine and carburettors and rebuilt suspension all round. Many items were replaced including the brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, flexible brake hoses, copper brake pipes, water pump, alternator, starter motor, stainless exhaust system, distributor, coil and oil cooler. New front brake calipers and cross drilled discs were added with a stiffer anti-roll bar and telescopic rear shock absorbers. The fuel tank and pump were replaced and a new battery was fitted. The cars cosmetics were not overlooked during this process which includes re-chromed bumpers, new tyres, front grille, trim panels, carpets and a recommissioned dashboard. We are informed that as one would expect, there is literally nothing it needs. A great example of a fabulous British sportscar.
