Description
This extraordinary Lamborghini Countach ‘Periscopica’ was ordered and supplied new in December 1976 as a birthday present for Princess Dalal Alsaud of Saudi Arabia from her then husband and to her favorite color scheme!
Supplied through the official Lamborghini concessionaire Achilli Motors (Milano) and registered on 21 December 1976, the car is one of two that were originally painted Viola Salchi (purple) at the factory and with Bianco (white) leather interior. Taken to the Royal Family home in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where it shared garage space with the Princess’s brother’s white Ferrari 400.
Subsequently sold to an American businessman who was working for the Royal Family and who exported it to California in late 1979. He was to own the car for the next 40 years, during which time he had it repainted by famous paint shop Juniors House of Colors to black as the purple/white had become unfashionable. The engine and drivetrain were also rebuilt in 2010-2013. The current owner acquired it directly from the same owner, thereby becoming just the third owner since new and with the original mileage showing only 54,571 kilometers.
Presented now with its striking Purple Salchi and White Accent livery to an original specification, and with its original white leather interior, the Periscopica is a matching numbered example. Shown on the lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year in the 50th Anniversary of the Lamborghini Countach class S-02 since when it has had a full fluid service. Offered with its original owner’s handbook and service coupon book.
Probably the most outrageous and eye-catching Lamborghini Countach of them all!
