Meticulous maintenance
Only two owners since 1985
The Alpine A110 is one of the most charismatic French sports car ever produced. A fabulous heritage that we owe to Jean Rédelé who starts his career in the early Fifties with a competition version of the popular Renault 4CV, which won the famous Mille Miglia three years in its class. The story was started and soon in 1955 the first of a long line of sedans was born: the Alpine A106, which was also victorious in competition. In 1963, the Alpine A110 was born and soon became a wonderful weapon in national rally and hill climb competitions. Then from 1969, the A110 S won fame in even more prestigious events, winning the Coupe des Alpes three times and coming third in the Monte Carlo Rally. The following year, Alpine reached again the third step of the Monte Carlo podium and won the Acropolis Rally and the Tour de Corse. Behind the wheel of an Alpine A110 1600 S, the driver Jean-Claude Andruet became European Rally Champion in 1970. Constantly making progress and winning a lot of competitions in Europe, the Berlinette became the most successful rally car in 1971. In 1973, after the takeover of Alpine by Renault, they decided to enter the new World Rally Championship as a manufacturer. Thanks to their drivers, Jean-Claude Andruet, Jean-Luc Thérier, Bernard Darniche and Jean-Pierre Nicolas, the berlinette won six of the thirteen events, making Alpine the first world rally champion brand.
The car we are presenting is an Alpine A110 1600 S from December the 31st 1971. This car has always been well maintained as evidenced by its invoice file back to 1981. Its current owner acquired it in 2015, he has since done some work, the bodywork in particular has been completely rebuilt in 2019, so it is in excellent condition. Its interior is in its original configuration. The engine had been completely rebuilt in 2007, an important overhaul has been done in 2016 including the rebuilding of the gearbox and the replacement of the clutch. This car is now running perfectly, its behavior is very dynamic, the 1600 engine is clear and its direct steering is very precise. The test drive of this sedan on the small French roads was a real pleasure! Performing and agile, it will certainly give incredible feelings to its future owner.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, on June the 20th, 2021.
