Rejoice! A ‘Batman’ that won’t break the bank

With ice-cool 1970s styling, the most desirable colour combination in the watch world and a price point well below 500 euros, the reissued Timex Q ‘Pepsi’ proved to be a sensation when it dropped last year. Now there’s an automatic ‘Batman’ version…

Hot property

Last year, Timex reissued one of its first Quartz watches, the Q, and the combination of its authentic retro 1970s aesthetic and evocative ‘Pepsi’ GMT bezel made it a ‘must-have’. In fact, getting your hands on one was almost as hard as getting your hands on the new Rolex GMT-Master II. Almost. Now, Timex has changed the Q’s unidirectional bezel to the equally sought-after ‘Batman’ colour scheme of black and blue and installed an automatic movement. Visible through an exhibition caseback, the 21-jewel mechanical movement required a small increase in case size to 40mm. But everything else remains the same as the Quartz version, from the mesh bracelet to the classic Mercedes hands. Rest assured, demand is already insatiable for this new 279-dollar M79 Automatic ‘Batman’, so you might have to wait a while longer to affix this one to your wrist.
