The Fiat Dino made its appearance at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, along with the prototype ‘Dino Berlinetta GT’ that was to become the production Ferrari Dino later on. Both cars used the superb V6 two litre, whose lineage could be traced back to the Dino 246 Grand Prix engine and the Dino 166P sports-racing unit. Indeed, this V6 was conceived at Maranello with the intention of using it in a Formula 2 single seater, but the ruling body of the sport then decreed that for the 1967 season all power units in that formula would have to be derived from mass-produced engines. An agreement was therefore entered into between Ferrari and Fiat, in which Ferrari would supply the Dino engines to Fiat, who had the capacity to build the necessary 500 cars. The Fiat Dino was thus born.
This delightful coupe appears to have been maintained in fine
