Description
The Fiat Dino, with a six-cylinder engine named after Enzo Ferrari's late son Dino, was introduced in 1966. Originally, Ferrari had to produce 500 production cars with the Dino engine in order to obtain F2 homologation, but as ferrari's production was limited, it teamed up with Fiat, which was able to produce a larger number.
Although it was called a Fiat, the sound of the Weber carburettor triple V6 engine was pure Ferrari. Fiat made some modifications to the car to make it more "normal" to use, but even the 2-litre model was a unique car at the time, with a 0-100 km/h time of 7 seconds and a top speed of over 200 km/h. The body, with its powerful engine, was designed by Pininfarina, with delicate and elegant body lines. The Fiat Dino was also a practical 2+2 with a large interior space due to its front engine. There were two body types, the Spider and the Coupe, with the Spider being produced in smaller numbers: 1,133 units of the 2.0-litre Spyder and only 424 units of the 2.4-litre Spyder.
This car was registered in Japan in 2020 and was originally sold in Italy. It has VIN -000116 (the first was 000026), so it can be said to be an extremely early Dino. Many Dino's have been fully restored recently, but this is a rare car that retains a high level of originality. The vinyl seats with their characteristic basket mesh, chromodora wheels, slightly cracked dashboard, spare tyre and carrello lights..etc This is not in concours condition, but you can feel the history of nearly 60 years. This is a worthy Dino that can be restored or left as it is.
