Editor's Choice: 1977 Ferrari 512 BB

As we found out recently, one (very famous) man’s obsession with the Ferrari 512 BB led him to spend an estimated £3m on a unique automotive tribute. For a fraction of that price, this recently restored example is on offer from renowned Ferrari specialist DK Engineering.

Named ‘512’ after the earlier racing Ferraris, and referring to its (near enough) 5-litre engine and 12 cylinders, with ‘BB’ standing for ‘Berlinetta Boxer’ (technically wrong; it has a 180° V12), it arrived in 1976 as an improved version of the 365 GT4. The main alterations from its predecessor included an increased engine capacity (up to 4942cc), revised rear suspension, wider wheels, and some subtle visual changes.

The example shown here is of 1977 vintage, one of just 101 right-hand-drive examples delivered new to the UK. Having recently undergone a full restoration at the DK Engineering workshop, the car has been returned to superb condition, resplendent in its original colour combination of Nero with Tan leather and Bruciato carpets. Price: on request.
