The Tour Auto: a challenging regularity rally and competition that traverses France, starting from the breathtaking Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, not far from the country’s capital, before winding its way southbound through Dijon, Mulhouse, Clermont-Ferrand and Villeneuve lez Avignon to end along the sparkling coastline of Nice. This famed event isn’t all glamour and glory, though, it’s a gruelling competition where timing is everything – which is exactly where France-based watchmakers Baltic come in.
Ready to reprise their role as the official timekeeper for a third consecutive year, Baltic have marked the occasion with a brand-new watch, a stunning sports chronograph known as the Scalegraph. This new water-resistant timepiece is packed with subtle details and clever design and, like so many of Baltics creations, it's a modern interpretation of a classic design.
Intended to be worn at every opportunity, be it a quick drive to the local coffee shop or documenting lap times out on the racetrack, the Scalegraph is impressively durable, thanks to its screw-down pushers. This new water-resistant design, paired with what Baltic call their “Big Eye” layout and the concentric index line, are the signatures of this all new limited edition watch.
Being the timekeeper for such a historic event is one thing, but Baltic are doubling down on their involvement, with an official Baltic Racing team entering a 1963 Lotus Elan 26R, as well as a MG B from 1965. Both cars will be competing in the event’s challenging VHC category, where the only thing that matters is being the fastest. This high speed blast though some of France’s finest regions will be the ultimate test for the Baltic team, their race-prepped classics and, of course, the Scalegraph!
