Description
The cabriolet, a variant of the popular 124 series, was introduced at the IAA in September 1991 and initially was only available as 300 CE 24 with the well-known 3 litre 6 cylinder 4 valve engine. From October 1992 the new 3.2 litre six cylinder could be ordered and with the MoPf 2 (model update 2), the previous six-cylinder models were replaced by the E 320, but the cabriolet for the first time also was available with four-cylinder engines, namely the E 200 and E 220. The E 320 cabriolet offered here is a Swiss delivery and was handed over to its first owner by Mercedes Zurich North on the 21st July 1994. Painted in “almandine red metallic” with a grey leather interior, a 5-speed automatic gearbox, electrically operated and heated seats as well as air conditioning, the new prize then was north of 110’000 Swiss francs. After probably two changes of ownership in 1995 and around 2006, the noble cabriolet was taken over by the vendor in 2020 with then 180’000 kilometres showing and added into his little collection. For a more sporting appearance Lorinser springs and 15-inch AMG rims were installed and entered in the cars registration document. With now 190’700 kilometres driven and a full service booklet the Mercedes is in technically very good condition. The coachwork presents well maintained and the soft top as well as the interior show some areas of age correct signs of use. The last MOT was completed in March 2023.
