At the 1973 Geneva Motor Show, the Alpine A110 1600 S was replaced by the SC version (called SI for export). This model adopts several mechanical elements of the A 310, presented two years earlier. Externally, the SC can be distinguished at first glance from the previous S by the beautiful alloy wheels borrowed from the A310. The 13-inch wheels were fitted with Michelin XAS radial tires, also used on Formula France single-seaters. For this new SC version, the 1.6 liter block of the Renault 16 TS was abandoned in favor of the 844-30 engine (the model on display is 844-34 as shown in the demonstration photo) adapted for the occasion from the Renault 12 Gordini. The block, also made of aluminium, retained the in-line four-cylinder architecture with side-mounted camshaft. The displacement was 1,605 cm3 and delivered 140 HP at 6,250 rpm. with a maximum torque of 16.2 mkg at 5,450 rpm. The gearbox also inherited from the R12 Gordini, had five synchronized gears and one reverse gear. With this propulsion and thanks to the reduced weight of 710 kg, the Alpine A110 1600SC reached a maximum speed of 215 km/h (manufacturer's data). What we present to you is a very beautiful and very well preserved specimen. The timeless charm is engraved in the faces of every motor enthusiast from its birth until today. Thanks to the pencil of an Italian, Giovanni Michelotti, this example has very light, sporty and captivating lines, still very current today. From a mechanical point of view it does not present any type of defect as the car has only traveled 75,000 km and has only had two owners, taking great care of it, both in storing the car and in mechanical maintenance and in maintaining the car over the years as much as possible. original possible. Curiosity
In a short time, the Alpine A110 created a solid reputation by competing in all national rallies, where it won many victories and brought success to several of the future French champions. Group 4 allowed many modifications to be made, such as the special Type 364 and 353 gearboxes with bevel gears on request, with or without self-locking differential, reinforced chassis with thirteen centimeter beam, reinforced wishbones, more direct steering ratio, central fuel tank, Plexiglas rear window and aerodynamic polyester bumper. Among the versions derived from the A110, there was also the A210 which participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The first versions of the Alpine also served as a "training ship" for numerous aspiring pilots, some of whom established themselves internationally, such as the Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi, who then landed in Formula 1. The car reached maximum fame during the 1970-72 seasons competing in the newly created International Championship Manufacturers, establishing itself as one of the strongest rally cars of its time.
